Bompas Rd is a 5 star boutique hotel which has an apparently superb restaurant   WineHouse which gets its name from a painting of pop singer Amy Winehouse and is also named for an extensive wine collection. The Cube Tasting Kitchen  (which used to be in Parktown North has now moved to Maboneng to the fabulous old Cosmpolitan hotel building (24 Albrecht St cnr Commissioner. Offers a twelve course menu so you need to set aside three hours for this gastronomic experience . Tuesday to Saturday evenings only; rates vary according to seasonal offerings but around R800 per person if you BYO (no corkage fee is charged) and R1300 with their wine paring. It is owned by Michel Morand, former owner of Auberge Michel restaurant, which was the first restaurant in South Africa to be awarded the Five Star rating by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. The Four Seasons Hotel/The Westcliff.  Very  upmarket with various different restaurants all with decks and stunning vistas. The view is magnificent over ‘the Parks’ area of Joburg with a purple canopy of jacarandas in October/November. Recently opened  is The Deli which advertises ‘gourmet food on the go’. WangThai,  Sandton has been the recipient of numerous awards including “top 100 restaurants” and “Diners Club wine list”. The food is beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks. The Thai chefs were apparently specially recruited from some of Bangkok’s finest 5-star hotels. The food is out of this world.  Mandela Square 011 784 8484
