LUCKY MOO GANDHI SQUARE
Sadly now closed …
Went to Lucky Moo for an early lunch on Saturday. Located on the south side of Gandhi Square, this great Chinese ‘fast food’ venue looks as though it will give Chinese take-out a whole new meaning. Started by Sam Halfon in partnership with Jaco Welgemoed of Singing Fig (Norwood), The Circle (Greenside) and Cite (Dunkeld) fame, they provide an impressive team – Sam is passionate about Joburg CBD and Jaco’s reputation for good food is legendary. The orange blossom chicken (R20) and the kung pao prawns (R30) were to die for – seriously delicious food at ridiculously reasonable prices. Watch the Lucky Moo logo. If it continues as it has started, it won’t be long before there is a Lucky Moo in every food court around the city’s malls. Sitting having lunch on a public square in downtown Jozi looking across at Ghandi on his plinth in his flowing legal robes, brought home to me yet again, how things are achanging in Jozi CBD.
