The Selfish Giant The Fringe Joburg Theatre 24 -26 August
There are 6 performances of The Selfish Giant from 24th to 26th August. This narrated ballet is based in Oscar Wilde’s bitter-sweet tale of transformation. The garden’s birds, fruit and flowersare performed by the Johannesburg Youth Ballet while the story is narrated by the inimitable David Butler (reason alone to see the production). A selfish giant builds a wall around his garden to keep children out but his plan backfires. All the seasons except for winter stay out of the garden and so nothing grows. When a little child brings spring into the garden love also enters the giant’s heart. Tickets at R75 The Fringe at Joburg Theatre
